A new campaign is hoping to raise awareness, and funds, for the upcoming referendum on same-sex marriage.

#ShareTheLove is being launched by Marriage Equality and runs into Valentine's Day.

It hopes to attract small donations from supporters to fund a campaign for the referendum.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Andrew Hyland, director of Marriage Equality, said: "Share The Love invites people to invest in history by making a small donation which will help secure a yes vote in the referendum."

"We believe that by acting together Irish voters can ensure that this Valentine's Day will be the last for our laws of discrimination," he added.

Volunteer with Marriage Equality, Denise Charlton, explains how people can get involved.

It comes after a new poll showed that public support for marriage equality now stands at 80% - when 'don't knows' are excluded.

The findings of the Red C poll have been welcomed by civil rights and equality groups.

The director of the Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL), Mark Kelly said: "Well before the civil marriage equality referendum campaign even begins, this latest pre-campaign poll is further evidence of the deep repository of good will amongst voters in Ireland towards full equality for same sex couples."
