More than 70 million people visit PornHub daily, making it one of the top 100 most visited websites in the world. In an effort to prortect its users, the site has turned on its encryption by default. The use of Hyertext Transfer Protocol Secure, or HTTPS, will prevent any monitoring or other such intrusions.

"Here at Pornhub, we wanted to continue our concerted effort to maximize the privacy of our users, ensuring that what they do on our platform remains strictly confidential," said Corey Price Pornhub vice president in a statement. "With the switch to HTTPS we are able to protect their identity as well as safeguard them against exposure to malware by third parties."

While the use of HTTPS will not prevent hackers from tracking users' IP addresses, it will prevent them from seeing the pages viewed. This comes days after the US House of Representatives voted to allow internet service providers to sell customer information, inluding search history.

In the case of PornHub, the ISPs will ses if a customer has visited the site, but will not be able to see what items were viewed.
