Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after an eight-year-old boy was hit by a van in Dublin.

The collision happened on the Shanganagh Road in Shankill at around 4.45pm on Friday.

A white van, travelling in the direction of Shankill Village, was involved in a collision with the boy.

The driver of the van has been interviewed by gardaí.

The injured boy has been taken to Temple Street Children's Hospital, and is in a serious condition.

Gardaí are asking anyone who was in the area at the time, or has any information about the collision, to contact Shankill garda station on (01)-666-5900.
