A Boston court will hear what David Drumm intends to do about his extradition today.

The former Anglo Irish Bank Chief Executive faces 33 criminal charges here in Ireland, relating to transactions carried out while he was in charge of the bank.

He has been fighting an extradition order in the US courts, but is expected to agree to return for court later.

The hearing had been scheduled for earlier in the week, but was postponed because of inclement weather conditions in America.

Lawyers for the former Anglo Boss had been expected to tell the court he is no longer fighting his extradition from the United States.

Seeks bail

Mr Drumm has offered to return to Ireland and adhere to strict bail conditions if the State does not oppose bail while he awaits trial.

He is understood to have written to the Director of Public Prosecutions offering to wear an electronic tag, hand over his passport and sign on in a garda station daily, among several conditions.

He has already been refused bail twice, and remains in custody in Boston.

The former banker told Tom Lyons of The Sunday Business Post in an interview that he wants to deal with the charges against him in Ireland and not the US.

The action could see him back on Irish soil within a number of weeks.
