The Army Bomb Disposal team made safe a viable device this morning in Co Cork.
Gardaí called the Defence Forces in to assist before dawn, after finding the Improvised Explosive Device in the Shannon Lawn area of Mayfield.
The bomb squad moved the device to a safe military location, where it was made safe and dismantled.

The scene was declared safe at 07.10am.
Evidence has been handed over to gardaí for use in their investigation.
