An Army bomb disposal team has safely dealt with hazardous chemicals from a science laboratory at NUI Galway.

They were called to the campus by gardaí at 3pm this afternoon.

The chemicals were examined and found to be hazardous.

Specialist officers removed and disposed of the chemicals, and the scene was declared safe at around 3.40pm.
