Tinder has been locking out users who are using the social media network to promote Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders.

Sanders has prided himself on his grassroots campaign, starting off with "no money, no name recognition" but still being able to force a close run race with Hillary Clinton in Iowa earlier this week. He added that the average donation on his website was just $27, but the sheer number of people supporting his candidacy has pushed him towards the top.

Those who support 'the Bern' are pretty passionate about it, and they have taken to Tinder to spread the word about Sanders' campaign, which the app are not very happy about.

According to Reuters, at least two women confirmed that they had been booted from the social network recently because "they had been reported too many times for peppering men on the site with messages promoting Sanders' candidacy".

The messages asked those who had been matched to the women "Do you feel the Bern?," a campaign slogan for the Vermont senator, adding "Please text WORK to 82623 for me. Thanks". The message would sign them up to receive updates from the campaign, including a link where they could sign up to volunteer.

Despite the news that those who are political nuts have more passionate love lives, Tinder was not too keen on people spreading the word in this fashion, but a number of people on social media have been sharing their stories of supporting Bernie on Twitter.

The movement seems to have a number of members, and a Tumblr blog has even been set up on the subject, under the title "The adventures of a perpetual right-swiper in the efforts of electing Bernie Sanders".

Tinder have yet to respond to Reuters after a request for comment on the matter.
