Mattel has partnered with an organization called 'She Should Run' to release new President and Vice-President Barbies.

She Should Run is a an non-partisan organization that was set up in order to help women from different backgrounds run for office.

Although there has been President Barbies before, this is the first time a Vice President is being released.

This new set of Barbies features dolls of different colours, shapes and hairstyles. Their goal is to represent as many different people as possible and inspire more girls to think about becoming a leader.

Erin Loos Cutraro, CEO of She Should Run, said:

"We believe that women of all backgrounds should have an equal shot at elected leadership positions and that our country will benefit from having a government with varied perspectives and experiences."

Democrat, Suzan DelBene was one of the members of congress who received a set of the dolls. She and took to Twitter to praise the concept.

"Great to see the President and VP Barbie set, drawing attention to the need to help girls envision themselves as leaders."

Lisa McKnight, Senior Vice President at Mattel, said:

"We see this doll set as a timely and topical platform to further the conversation around female leadership. We are proud to partner with She Should Run to help elevate its message and show girls that they can be and do anything."

Earlier this year Barbie made its doll line more diverse when it added three new body types (tall, curvy and petite), seven new skin tones, 22 new eye colors and 24 hairstyles.
