Barack Obama is to appear on television show Running Wild with Bear Grylls.
The US president will test his wilderness survival skills in an Alaskan adventure, due to be broadcast later this year.
Stars including Ben Stiller and Kate Winslet have joined Grylls for one-on-one expeditions that test their mental and physical endurance skills.
The US president is travelling to Alaska this week to raise awareness of his efforts to combat climate change. The administration says, "climate change is one of the biggest threats we face, it is being driven by human activity, and it is disrupting Americans’ lives right now".
Earlier this month President Obama announced the "biggest, most important step" in the fight against climate change.
The revised Clean Power Plan will demand carbon emissions be cut by 32% from 2005 levels by 2030.
It will also encourage a shift towards renewable energy sources including wind and solar energy.
Obama's trip to Alaska comes as Mount McKinley, the tallest peak in North America and the 15th tallest mountain on the planet, is to be renamed effective immediately – reverting back to its original name of Denali.
The change was announced in an effort to focus on the effects of climate change on Alaska’s arctic environment, and has been met with opposition from other politicians.
