Bank of Ireland are to outsource 130 staff members in the clearing division to an outside company.

The workers will be moved to BancTec, which is based in Park West in Clondalkin in Dublin.

General secretary of the IBOA, Larry Broderick, said the decision is “disappointing given the commitment of those staff to Bank of Ireland and the fact that Bank of Ireland is in profit.”

The Bank has confirmed that it will enter into negotiations with IBOA next Monday and these negotiations will commence with both Bank of Ireland and BankTec.

Broderick added that the IBOA welcomed this commitment.

“If this decision is in the strategic best interest of the Bank it is important that staffs’ jobs, pay, pension, and terms and conditions are protected,” he said.

The IBOA will consult with members in the coming days and Mr. Broderick said the IBOA was “adamant there will be no transfer of work until an agreement is in place with IBOA members.”
