Gardaí have arrested one person and seized drugs in an operation targetting organised crime gangs.

Six searches were carried out in Kildare, Carlow and Dublin on Saturday.

One person was detained and six drugs seizures were made.

A 31-year-old man was arrested and is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The crackdown was carried out as part of Operation Thor. It brings the number of people detained this week under the operation to 36.

Operation Thor is a special national garda anti-crime programme, targeting organised crime gangs and repeat offenders.

Gardaí are continuing to urge members of the public to report any suspicious activity to their local station - or ring the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111.
