A man in his early 20s has been arrested in connection with an attempted bank robbery in Wexford.
The man is alleged to have fired a shot inside the premises before fleeing the scene on foot.
Uniformed gardaí responded to an alarm activation at the bank in Rosslare shortly before 10am this morning.
Officers were unable to enter the building but could see staff gathered in a back room.
The employees were able to escape uninjured with the help of gardaí.
The man was pursued and arrested a short distance from the bank.
No cash was taken but officers recovered a firearm, ammunition, cable ties and duct tape.
The suspect is being detained at Wexford garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939, as amended.
