Do you ever find yourself checking your phone last thing at night before going to bed, but then suddenly finding it very difficult to get to sleep?

That is down to the fact that the screen of your iPhone emits large amounts of blue and green light frequencies, which our brains associate with being out and about in the daytime.

Due to this, your brain doesn't create the necessary amounts of melatonin, which in turn makes it difficult to fall asleep properly.

Apple are hoping to counteract this directly with 'NightShift', which is due to arrive with the new iPhone update, the iOS 9.3.

'NightShift' will take note of the local time and your global location and use this to activate a warmer colour spectrum on your phone's screen, which is more conducive to the creation of melatonin.

Come the morning, your phone will automatically return to the usual blue-and-green light fields.

There is no set date for the release of the iOS 9.3 just yet, but for those who don't want to wait to get a good night's sleep, there are already some apps available that will adjust the light display for you.
