Drizly, a delivery service that links customers to local off-licences in the US says that Election Day led to a massive 86% jump in sales.
Forbes is reporting that Tuesday, the day which saw Donald Trump elected, was the busiest, non-weekend sales day in the company's history. While the company anticipated a busier-than-usual Tuesday, the results led to users reaching for stronger beverages.
"We were prepping for a big night given the buzz on social, but the spike in wine and spirits sales was surprising," Trisha Antonsen, the chief cocktail officer at Drizly told Forbes. "Beer is typically the top category for us ... It looks like people needed something a little stronger on Tuesday night."
