Two decades after launching the careers of both Ewan McGregor and director Danny Boyle, the first official trailer for the long-awaited sequel to Trainspotting has been released online. T2 Trainspotting reunites the cast of the cult hit and comes to cinemas on January 27th, 2017.

The trailer features all the main characters from the original, including Renton, Spud, Sick Boy, Begbie, and Diane, updating the celebrated monologue from Trainspotting with some modern alterations. “Choose life, choose Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,” McGregor says, “And hope that someone, somewhere cares.”

Irvine Welsh, author of the novel which inspired the first film, has said that the sequel sees his much-loved characters finding a “very innovative” way to get involved in the world of pornography.
