Dublin City University have raised €10,000 in 24 hours for homeless charity the Peter McVerry Trust.

As part of the Media Production Society's annual 24hr Broadcast, students broadcast live uninterrupted over 24 hours.

It is the most the society has raised over the history of the event

As well as recreating popular TV shows like Ireland's Fittest Family and Never Mind The Buzzcocks, students were waxed and tattooed live on air.

Following the live stream, station manager Oisin O'Connell said it was "the craziest, scariest event you could ever organise".

Laura Horan, a committee member of the Media Production Society (MPS), nominated the Peter McVerry trust after she shared her family's experience of being homeless.

"I think most people think you become homeless through bad family experiences", she said. "It took me a long time to realise that I was homeless."

They've reached their target, but you can still donate here.
