The HSE are reviewing medical cards as part of a new measure announced in the last Budget to cut costs by reducing the number of cards in the country.

A HSE official told a mother in Co Meath that the volume of cases means it can take 10 - 15 days for a letter to be even opened.

Tracey Holsgrove and Liam Lynch ’s daughter has Dandy Walker Syndrome, epilepsy, is still in nappies, and uses a wheelchair.

Eimear O’Shea visited them in their home in Oldcastle Co Meath to hear about 6 year old Fionnuala’s life, why she needs a medical card and the complex process of getting her medical card reviewed.
