It's being reported that at least 32 Islamic State militants have been killed and more than 40 wounded in a series of airstrikes.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says more than 15 bombs were dropped in the Raqqa province.

The US led coalition confirmed it hit Raqqa and other areas of northern and eastern Syria this morning.

It comes as the Islamist organisation claims responsibility for an explosion which killed the governor of Yemen's southern Aden province, along with six bodyguards.

In a statement posted on a messaging service, the group said it detonated an explosives-laden car as Jaafar Mohammed Saad's convoy was passing in a western district of Aden.

Earlier today residents and security sources said Saad had been attacked by rocket-propelled grenades or a suicide car bomber.
