57 organisations throughout the country will benefit from the €1.712 million allocation.

It'll fund services to victims of crime through the Victims of Crime Office in his Department.

Minister Flanagan said “The ongoing direct help being provided to victims of crime and to their families and friends by our victim support services makes a hugely valuable and vital contribution in Irish society.

It'll be distributed to a large number of non-governmental organisations including Barnardos, the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre and Victim Support at Court.

The funding supported around 18,500 victims of crime in 2017.

Support services provided assistance to victims of general crime, domestic abuse and sexual violence among others.

It included the provision of practical information, emotional support, court accompaniment, accompaniment to Garda interviews, accompaniment to sexual assault treatment units, counselling and referral to other services.
