A 12 year-old boy was airlifted to hospital after he fall from rocks in the Dublin area earlier today.

The incident happened in the Shankill area of south Dublin.

The Greystones Coastguard Unit and the Search and Rescue Helicopter 116 from Dublin were involved in the operation.

The boy was airlifted to Tallaght Hospital where it's understood he is being treated for non life threatening injuries.
